Balaraman Jayaraman has more than three decades of experience in the high-tech industry.
He became an entrepreneur in 1992, and is now an investor and on the Board of four companies in the IT and ITES space. Bala is also a part of the advisory board for a US based Fortune 1000 company’s India operations.
As a Co-Founder and President of Congruent Solutions since 1999, Bala has steered Congruent to be be a niche services provide in the Pension vertical, with providing both technology solutions as well as KPO Services to the US and UK. Congruent became the first company outside of the US to have its employees undergo certification of National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA) and ISO 9001:2000 certification for back-office pension administration services. Congruent also scaled the highest peak of process maturity for services companies, SEI / CMMi Level 5, during October 2006 and has been recently certified under ISO 27001 standards for Information Security practices.. Congruent has recently forayed into the product space by building an large scale ERP-like platform for Pension plan providers in the US and UK.
At the start of his career, Bala was involved in sales and business development roles for Sperry Univac mainframes, Digital VAX superminicomputers and CAD/ CAM/ CAE solutions from SDRC. He was based in the Silicon Valley for a few years and was instrumental in helping companies like Chips & Technologies, MIPS Computers and Mylex take their first offshore development initiative. He was part of the core team that set up the offshore development center for Covansys.
He is an active member of Rotary and is a Past President of Rotary Club of Madras East.
Bala is an alumnus of the premier business school of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), where he did his MBA with specialization in Marketing & MIS, and a mechanical engineer from the Delhi College of Engineering, and has been invited for guest lectures in several leading Management Institutes including IIMC.
